Science Confirms the Effectiveness of Hypnosis for Quitting Smoking

A study of 186 outpatients  (93 male and 93 female) examined the facilitation of smoking cessation by using hypnosis. After the 2 week program, 92% or 86 of the men and 90% or 84 of the women reported abstinence, and at 3 months follow-up, 86% of the men and 87% of the women reported continued abstinence.

During 1997, 2,810 smokers participated in a single group hypnotherapy stop smoking session which was evaluated at a less effective success rate than individualized hypnosis sessions. However, even group hypnosis sessions were demonstrated to be more effective than drug interventions.

In this study 43 patients underwent a specific hypnotherapy treatment protocol integrated with a Rapid Smoking (RS) procedure to stop smoking. Of these, 39 people, or 90.6%, reported remaining abstinent from tobacco use at follow-up (6 months to 3 years post-treatment).

67 patients with a cardiopulmonary diagnosis completed the study representing 16 controls and 14, 19, 18 subjects in each of the Hypnosis (H), Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), and NRT+H groups, respectively. 6 months after discharge 25.0% of the control subjects, 50.0% of the hypnosis group, 15.78% of the NRT and 50% of the NRTH group were non smokers.

Other therapists may feel confident in letting you off the hook after only one session. And that’s fine. You can easily stop smoking in one session, and virtually all of my clients are non smokers by the end of session one.

The point is different though. To maximise your success rate, a little more work is ideal to make sure that even 6 or 9 months down the line you are as clear minded as ever, and that you have all the resources that you may need as a non-smoker.

The first two sessions, part of the Silver Package, are the Core Sessions and are usually done separately, one week apart. These sessions are 1.5 hours each. It is possible to combine these 2 sessions into a single longer session.

Session 3 is part of the Gold Package and builds upon the first two Core Sessions to cement key learnings, beliefs and experiences. This session is always separate from the first two and qualifies you to FREE sessions Until-You-Quit (if needed) and for the 12 Months Relapse Guarantee that covers you in the off-chance you were to start smoking again within 12 months from seeing me (which is extremely unlikely based on our experience with clients).

The Platinum Package is an enhanced version of the Gold Package and qualifies you for the LIFETIME Relapse Guarantee*.
